5th June 2007
Attn: (Store Manager)
I am writing to announce my resignation from (Store Name), with my last day being Saturday June 30th 2007. I am giving more than the required notice in order to allow you time to fill my position.
Thankyou.
Regards
Louis
I really had to resist the urge to be bitter and sarcastic, or to end it with ‘u suk bitches kthxbai’
I promise to perform no verbal, physical or emotional abuse on any of my managers before I leave, but that’s the extent of how much sucking up I’ll do in order to get a good reference. I figure if I can’t get a good reference after three months of working twelve hour days to fill a position they were too lazy to fill, I’ll never get one. I’m also hoping that my next job applied for will consider a year in Japan more valuable experience than eight months in a supermarket. Still, I’m shooting for a reasonably quiet departure and a reasonably good reference. I won’t tell them what’s wrong with the company, their hiring and promotion policies, the hours they make their staff work, and many many other things. I will, however, find it difficult to prevent myself from really letting go at a customer on my last day. But considering it’s a Saturday and I’ll be locked away in my tiny windowless office for most of the day, I should be fine.
By the way, the typo was intentional.
